If you decide to ask me to help you with test prep. don't expect a template or test drilling. The best way to prepare for a test using the English language is to become comfortable with the language in a natural way - through conversation - not memorizing test strategies.
I taught ESL in Maui for many years where I taught many wonderful students from Japan. I am originally from New York City, have lived in California, Maui and Washington. My husband and I just finished a two year journey around the U.S. in our motorhome. We traveled all over the southern U.S. We saw many wonderful places, took beautiful photos and met many interesting people. We are now living in southern California on the shores of the Colorado River.

とてもいい授業で、キャサリンの授業がとれて満足してます。記事を音読して、その後、書いてある内容を説明したのですが、音読のとき、読むことだけに集中してしまい、何が書いてあるのかまで気がまわらない自分の弱点に気がつきました。「読みながらすぐ理解する」といういい訓練になると思います。 記事の内容も、興味深く、いいチャレンジになると思います。

彼女のレッスンはWEBのニュースサイト等のアーティクルを読みながら、段落ごとに生徒に要約を説明させるというスタイルで、予習なしでは厳しいものです。他の先生にはあまりこのスタイルをとる人はいなかったように思います。私が彼女がよいと思ったのは、上記のような進め方なので、自然と生徒の発言時間が長くなることにあります。

Hi,
I'd like to tell you a little about myself in case you think you might like to study English with me. I am an American and grew up in a city just outside of New York City. I graduated from Columbia University in New York City with a B.A.in English. Later on, I went to Law School and received my Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School. After practicing law for a few years, I started teaching English in Bangkok, Thailand and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I decided that I was better suited for teaching English and have been doing it for 15 years.
I have taught in Japan, USA, Vietnam and Thailand, so I have a lot of experience teaching English to people from many different countries. Now, I usually spend 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in the USA. Therefore I am happy to start working with EnglishEverywhere because I will be able to have my students with me in both countries!!
In my free time I love to play the guitar, swim and learn as much as I can about the internet. I like to read about everything because it helps me keep up with the many interesting things that are happening in the world. I also love to travel and have visited quite a few countries all over the world. I'd like to talk about some of the places with you if we ever get the chance!!

I have lots of experience teaching English for academic purposes, especially written English. If you need to prepare for a proficiency examination such as IELTS I can help you. Besides having worked as an IELTS examiner, I have also taught essay writing skills at colleges and universities around the world. Writing academic English is difficult even for native speakers, but I have developed an approach that simplifies the basic skills you need to write essays, exams and proficiency tests like IELTS and TOEFL.
I like to use authentic English materials for more advanced learners. Not only are authentic materials more relevant for real communication but they also use vocabulary that is more current than even the very best textbooks. Particularly good articles for advanced learners can be found at the online editions of the New York Times, the Economist, Euronews, BBC Words in the News, and Voice of America.

I like creativity in my classes and try to give attention to all language skills. At a younger age I went through the process of learning a second language. It helps me understand my students' needs and obstacles they are going through.
I completed a Master's Degree in Applied Language Studies at Carleton University, Canada, and have 7 years of international teaching experience. I teach Everyday Conversational and Business English as well as Academic and English. I can also help you prepare for TOEFL test.

お忙しいのでなかなか時間が合わないのが残念です。
今回は事前に他のテーマを頂いていたのですが、
米国大統領の選挙が終わってすぐだったのでそのテーマになりましたが、 レベルにあわせてしてくれたので興味深く話すことができました。
次のレッスンが楽しみです。
・レッスンごとに１つずつ課題をやっていくスタイルが自分に合っている
・人当たりがやわらかく、丁寧。こちらの話すスピードが遅くても
忍耐強く待ってくれる。
・間違いをきちんと指摘、褒めるところは褒めてくれるメリハリ。
・経験が豊かで教えた方をよく知っている方だと思われる。
・トピックにでてきたバンクーバーの様子などについても教えてくれた
・語彙の増やし方について例をあげて教えてもらい、
参考になるサイトも紹介してくれた
・記事を読んで意味の確認はしても、ここまでやってくださる講師は
なかなかいないので、大変ありがたかったです。

私は日本生まれシンガポール育ちの帰国子女です。
大学は日本のICUを卒業しました。大学では第二言語習得法や
バイリンガリズム、また通訳のコースを専攻していました。
学生の時から英語を教えていました。日本の大手進学塾や英会話学校、家庭教師などとさまざまな形で今まで英語を教えてきました。卒業後は英語講師を続けると同時に通訳・翻訳エージェントに登録し仕事をしていました。
TOEFL,TOEIC,SAT,英検は自分自身が勉強して取得してきた資格なので
教えることができます。もちろん英会話も生徒さんのレベルと目標に合わせてレッスンを組み立てたいと思っております。
最近TESOLも取得しました。ぜひTESOLで学んだティーチングメソッドをレッスンの中に組み込んでいけたらと思っております。
授業は基本的に英語のみです。英語を話せるようになるためにはやはり耳を鍛えて間違ってもいいから使ってみることが大事です。しかし、文法の説明の時のみ場合によっては日本語で説明させていただきます。一人ひとりの必要に応じてレッスンを組み立てます。

こんにちは。
英語を学んでいると、次々遭遇する表現の多さに圧倒されたり、自分の上達を実感できずにめげてしまうことも多いと思います。
私も実は学校の英語があまり得意ではありませんでした。
イギリスの音楽、文化に魅了され英語に興味を持ったことをきっかけに、大学卒業後空間デザインを勉強する為に初めて渡英、当時は先生の話す言葉が宇宙語に聞こえたのを覚えています。
２年半後一端帰国し、都内の設計事務所に５年間勤めた後、２００８年に環境建築の修士号を取得する為再びイギリスに戻りました。そこでまた大学院のアカデミックな英語の壁にぶつかりとても自信をなくしましたが、全て理解できなくても時間をかけてたくさん論文を読み、講義を聞くことで、英語が上達しただけではなく、最終修士論文でDistinctionをもらうことができました。
現在は奨学金を受けて、英国ヨークシャーの片田舎で博士号の取得に向けて勉強中です。
在日英時を合わせて、翻訳、通訳、英語家庭教師、在英日本人の英語指導の他、イギリス人に日本語を教えた経験もあります。旅行、暮らす為の英語から、留学の為のアカデミック英語、試験、英作文指導まで、自分の経験を生かしながら、生徒さん一人ひとりの目的とニーズに合わせたレッスン作りを心がけています。
言葉はあくまでもコミュニケーションの道具ですから、意思が伝わったり、分からなかった事を理解できたり、生きた言語として使うことを楽しみながら、たくさんの英語に触れていくのが一番の学習法だと思っています。近道はありませんが、結果は必ずついてきます！

I live in the UK and have a wide experience of teaching across a variety of levels from elementary to proficiency. My career has been varied including: several years as a merchant navy electronics officer, the head of a department at a high school and more recently as an English teacher in Italy. I have a wide range of interests which include: reading, travel, several sports, walking, music and films which all help when it comes to conversation lessons. I am a qualified English language teacher from the UK living in Montreal, Canada. I have 7 years teaching experience with one of the best schools in Asia. I am also a teacher trainer. Hello,
I originally come from Scotland in the United Kingdom. I graduated from Aberdeen University in the north of Scotland with an MA in European Studies which means I studied about the politics and economics of the European Union. I also studied two European languages: French and German.
After graduating from university, I moved to Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan to teach English. Altogether I lived in Japan for 5 years. They were very, very happy years!! Now I miss Japan very much. I especially miss eating miso soup for breakfast and going to onsen in my free-time. After leaving Japan, I taught English in Poland, Italy and the United Kingdom. Now, I am living in Miami, USA with my husband and our 2 year-old daughter.
My hobbies include watching movies, reading books, hiking, doing aerobics and dance exercise, and teaching English.
I have a Cambridge diploma in teaching English to adults and a certificate in teaching English to children.
I look forward very much to meeting you, and hope we can enjoy many interesting and fun lessons together.
